Colourblind! Halp

Unread postby lexadair » Mon Oct 20, 2014 11:13 pm

So, I'm colourblind... and a graphic designer, that works right? hahaha. Anyway, I find it quite hard to differentiate between skins sometimes, the admin one really confuses the hell out of me, and more often than not, if you move I will shoot you. I was just wondering if there's anything I could do to change the colour of CT and T skins to make them a colour, or a specific skin, or I don't know, just something to make it blatantly obvious what's going on. I know this might sound a bit random and unnecessary but it took me long enough to find a crosshair I could see properly, so thought you never know, someone might have some knowledge!

Cheers!

you could also rename the model files so you could have the white T afaik.

I just tried the cl_minmodels 1 earlier thanks to Epsilon yeah, I was just wondering if there's any possible way to change the skins to just block colours.

So I just type

cl_minmodels 1
cl_min_ct 4
cl_min_t 3

into the console and it changes the skins bud yeah? Is this a permanent thing or would I need to do it everytime I launch CS?

yea type in each one individually and it should work. Just to make sure it saves you could add it into your config.

\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike\cfg\config.cfg

and add each command to a new line at the bottom. Save this and it will definitely load each time :)

Just to expand on this, I remember not so long in the past a trialist getting banned for using skins that ave him a visual advantage by making the enemy stand out (I think blue and red, ct & t). He claimed he was colour blind at the time.

I would wait for a confirmation that this is ok before continuing.

My problem is not with colour blind but im sure my ability to pick the enemy out would be much better if they where all running around in snow suites .....

Im trying to think of the trialists name, im pretty sure he went to bradford university (dave or peter rings a bell)

I believe you are referring to Proctor

He wasn't banned, just had his trial cancelled as it could have all been innocent and it was a bit our fault anyway.

Just to clarify, our white-list would prevent custom skins such as solid blue or red from being used as it can confer an advantage. At the time of Proctor's trial it was broken (which we weren't aware of) due to an update in CSS and Steam. This was rectified pretty quickly.

From what I can see Rene is helping Lex make use of commands in the game which are not restricted, everyone could do it if they liked. Given that there are plenty or dark or white surfaces on most of our maps I can't see it giving Lex much of an advantage at all.

It can't give me an advantage if I'm at a massive dis-advantage in the first place haha. I totally understand why some skins are banned, but I've got to be honest that, for me, sounds absolutely ideal. But of a shame, but things are put in place for a reason, so never mind! :D

Exactly what SR's have said, no issue with those commands. Quick and helpful responses all around as well as an insightful and valid concern to raise in a spot-on manner, cheers all.

I sometimes do when I'm tired and can't be bothered concentrating my eyes too much, means I'm not straining my eyes as I sit further from my screen than most.
